I guess I agree.  But I think it points out a few other problems:
- the with-local-quit in flyspell.el is probably badly located: maybe it
  should be moved so that it makes it possible to break out of a bad loop
  like the above.
- `intangible' is evil.  Why do you use it in org-mode?
