Please give me more concrete data.  Here's what I tried:

   ELISP> (defadvice diff-refine-ignore-spaces-hunk (around sm-test activate)
            (interactive "")
            ad-do-it)
   diff-refine-ignore-spaces-hunk
   ELISP> (interactive-form 'diff-refine-ignore-spaces-hunk)
   (interactive "")
   
   ELISP> 

looks correct so far.
