Do you only wants bits of it? As stated originally, I want to change the behavior of package.el so as to keep track of which packages were installed explicitly. I don't really know elpakit does, so I can't really tell you what "bits of it" would mean and what the other implicit option (probably "the whole elpakit package") would do instead. Stefan
