BTW, I'd suggest a fix to string-width's doc Width is measured by how many columns it occupies on the screen. to make clear that a window's display table does not affect the width computation; which makes sense, because the buffer could be displayed in multiple windows with different display tables, but the docstring seems to indicate that it should.
