How 'bout:

   (define-key minibuffer-local-completion-map
               [(meta tab)] 'minibuffer-force-complete)

and then

   M-x i-d M-TAB RET

or even

   (define-key minibuffer-local-completion-map
               [(meta return)]
               (lambda ()
                 (interactive)
                 (minibuffer-force-complete)
                 (minibuffer-complete-and-exit)))

and then

   M-x i-d M-RET
