I don't expect load time to be improved (just like loading a .elc file isn't fundamentally any faster than loading the .el file (except for the fact that .el files are currently always loaded in a somewhat cumbersome way in order to perform character decoding according to the file's coding-system)). Lumping separate files one big one can likely be done in a way that's largely independent from compilation issues (e.g. see package-quickstart). Stefan
