Yes, that's the problem I mentioned in my "PS".

Not sure what you mean by "keep the level".

`up-list' is aiming to do this.  It currently fails miserably at that, tho.

C-M-f when right before of a close paren signals an error, and it
would make a lot of sense to do the same when right before of
a closing quote.
