No, you don't. You overlooked the fact that I said "by default". Also you overlooked the fact that I said this depends on the order of the various rules. So you can either play with the order of the rules, or you can choose to use a non-default behavior (see OVERRIDE in font-lock-keywords's docstring). Stefan
