Hi Daniel,
I think the patch is looking good, but it's a fairly significant change
to install in the feature-frozen code, so I'd rather keep it for after
24.3 (the trunk should re-open for non-bugfix changes in November, so
it's not a terribly long wait).
Are there particular reasons why you think it would be important to
install your changes for 24.3?
