Then simply try to move the cursor up (by pressing the `ArrowUp' key).
It stops before the line containing `zhangxueqing@davworld.net'. To
move the cursor further up I have to use something different like
`ArrowLeft' or `C-Home'.
I'm using a GNU/Linux box, in case this matters.

I cannot reproduce this on GNU/Linux.
Can you give a full procedure starting with emacs -Q that exhibits the error.

Execute this in a fresh buffer:
(setq buffer-display-table (make-display-table))
then copy

I can reproduce it on powerpc-linux with a 7 days old Emacs. Also tested
with a 10 day old Emacs on ia64-linux, where it not reproducable.

Rechecked with current CVS, I can no longer reproduce it neither on
powerpc-linux nor ia64-linux. Looks like alredy been fixed. (The version
of Emacs where I was able to reproduce it was actually one month older.)

Sorry, but I still cannot reproduce it.
Is your CVS emacs up-to-date?
