C-s sort-fold-case, to search for all occurrences.
 
There are two occurrences, one of which is in the Variable Index.  The
variable is undefined - not recognized by `C-h v' and not explained in
the manual. It should be removed, defined, or explained.
 

In GNU Emacs 23.1.1 (i386-mingw-nt5.1.2600)
 of 2009-07-29 on SOFT-MJASON
Windowing system distributor `Microsoft Corp.', version 5.1.2600
configured using `configure --with-gcc (4.4)'

You are only confirming what I said:
"There are two occurrences, one of which is in the Variable Index."

The non-index occurrence, which is the one you mention, does not explain well
what this is or does. It says only " Many of the sort commands ignore case
differences when comparing, if `sort-fold-case' is non-`nil'." Which sort
commands?

More importantly, as the bug report states: "The variable is undefined - not
recognized by `C-h v'". It should be described by `describe-variable', from the
outset.
