calendar/appointment notification -- How about via a FRAME popping up?

Solaris CDE comes with a calendar-application that slams a new
"frame" in front of your eyes -- no way you can miss that!


It'd sure be nice if the emacs calendar/appointment alarm-clock would do the
same thing!

Have a look at the customize group for appt. I think you can do this,
but you may need to provide the function that creates the frame. There
are two variables which can be used to specify the functions used to
open and close a window to display the diary. It would probably be
possible to use functions that display the window in its own frame and
then close the window and delete the frame.

 From the Commentary in calendar/appt.el:

;;; You can change the way the appointment window is created/deleted by

;;; 	     appt-delete-window-function
;;;
;;; For instance, these variables could be set to functions that display
;;; appointments in pop-up frames, which are lowered or iconified after
;;; `appt-display-interval' minutes.

If you want to avoid writing your own functions, you might get the
desired effect by simply adding appt-buffer-name to
special-display-buffer-names.
