I didn't know, that there is a buffer for the ftp... :-)

I think, I know where you will find the problem: Do you mean that could
be a coding problem? I just take a look for "quote mdtm", and the type
is ASCII... there could be a coherency... but I don't know, where the
solution could be? FTP-Server (pure-ftp) or emacs?
