Upon changing to a major mode which adds extra menu items to the menu bar
accross the top of the window, these items are added but have no
functionality. In particular, when clicking on them a very small menu drops
down as expected. However, this menu is empty and only a very short
height. This is only for entries added by a major mode (including AuCTeX
and GNUS) for me. The standard EMACS menu items: File, Edit, ...,Help are
all functional. As I write this in Mail mode, the 'Headers' and 'Mail' menu
items are non-functional.

This was previously reported and fixed in both Emacs CVS trunk and
Debian unstable.
