Especially since its doc string tells you to call the function: (global-font-lock-mode 1) ,----[ C-h v global-font-lock-mode RET ] | Setting this variable directly does not take effect; | use either M-x customize or the function `global-font-lock-mode'. `---- -- Kevin Rodgers
