Hi there,

is GNU emacs capable of supporting custom coding systems?
Specifically, I'd like to have a representation of MAB2 - ISO 5426-1983,
as specified in
http://www.dnb.de/SharedDocs/Downloads/DE/DNB/standardisierung/mabZeichensatzUnicode2005.pdf?__blob=publicationFile

I gave it a try, but a custom file etc/charsets/MAB2.map was not
honoured.

To experiment, I customized an existing one, which works to some
extent, but combining characters are not displayed properly, at
least when I don't use the freemono font from
http://savannah.gnu.org/projects/freefont/.

I did a lot of searching, but was unable to find HowTo
Information about composing and installing such a custom coding
system properly.

Help welcome!

Thomas
