(I nuked .emacs so that won't be a red herring.) "emacs aa.c" throws it into c-mode (cc-mode?) and M-x auto-fill-mode has no noticeable effect. HOW COME AUTO-FILL-MODE DOESN'T WORK IN C-MODE??? Chris
