Just out of curiosity, I tried to build Emacs (master) on Windows 
Subsystem Linux (WSL) [*] but it always hangs at this point:

./autogen.sh

./configure --prefix=/opt/emacs --without-x

   Where should the build process find the source code?    .
   What compiler should emacs be built with?               gcc

(I waited for almost an hour)

I tried with a master of a few days ago which surely build and works on 
GNU/Linux Mint 18, Windows (MSYS2/MinGW64) and macOS.

Just out of curiosity...
