I'm unable to enter the simplified chinese character ¿ (a donkey) as lu:2 [1] using Emacs input method chinese-tonepy-punct. The workaround is to use lu:5 which is not very correct. C-h C-a reports "This is GNU Emacs 23.1.1 (x86_64-suse-linux-gnu, X toolkit, Xaw3d scroll bars) of 2010-04-01 on build17" I set the input method using set-input-method 'chinese-tonepy-punct which gives me the mode line indicator Æ´·û.
