I just set auto-save-visited-file-name, and I notice that it seems to cause
problems with auto-revert-mode. The problem is that first, that
auto-revert-mode notices that the file has been saved and reverts it, or
puts up a prompt because I try to edit the file some more and it wants to
know if I want to edit the reverted or non-reverted version and secondly,
by reverting I lose my undo history.
Is there some way that autorevert can be made to differentiate between files
autosaved by Emacs and files updated externally?
I'm using the 22.1 release.
