Why assume that? Who needs to be convinced?
If we can't have a new face for this then I'd like
to see non-minibuffer prompting have no face at all,
by default.

That sounds like an implementation thing, not a user-level thing.
And as I said, `x-show-tooltip' has no problem with
showing propertized text.

Oh, so `x-show-tooltip' only supports properties on
some platforms (e.g. MS Windows)? If so, that's
unfortunate.
Yes, I don't expect window-dialogs to respect
propertized text. Again, unfortunate - but livable.

I would like to see Emacs allow, when possible, Emacsy
things as much as possible. But I can understand that
there can be some tradeoffs.
