Emacs manual, tool-bar page: it would seem like a good idea to me to 
add the information about how to disable the tool-bar by default.

After a bit of experimenting I found that
(tool-bar-mode nil)
in the .emacs file did the trick, but this would have been impossible 
to discover in the manual in finite time.

The manual does say that tool-bar-mode toggles the tool bar, so
reading the on-line docs of the function tool-bar-mode would have told
you that.

It's possible that a user would first read Antinews, which mentions the
tool-bar like so on 21.2 :

        - There are no toolbars and no tooltips

Perhaps it would be better to spell it as "tool bar" since that's how
it's refered to elsewhere?
