How can I convert a list to an appropriate table for abbrev-mode?
For instance, I would start from
(setq prototablet-word-list-2
'( ("some" . "so") ("than" . "n") ("that" . "ta")
("there" . "tr") ("this" . "th") ("time" . "ti") ))

You don't need to since if you do it that way might as well do
it first-hand to begin with.
;; (kill-all-abbrevs)
(let ((write '(
("lenght" "lenght")
("lex" ";;; -*- lexical-binding: t -*-")
("sld" "sdl")
("wierd" "weird")
)))
(define-abbrev-table 'global-abbrev-table write) )
