* bug#50759: 26.3; Add `Look Up Symbol (Code Name) in Manual' to Help > Search Documentation menu @ 2021-09-23 14:50 Drew Adams 2021-09-23 15:58 ` Juri Linkov 2021-09-23 21:39 ` Lars Ingebrigtsen 0 siblings, 2 replies; 4+ messages in thread From: Drew Adams @ 2021-09-23 14:50 UTC (permalink / raw) To: 50759 Enhancement request. Please consider adding a menu item for `C-h S' (`info-lookup-symbol') to the Help > Search Documentation menu-bar menu. The menu-item name is up to you. Using "Symbol" in the name has advantages and disadvantages. Disadvantage: it likely won't be clear to some what's meant. Advantage: trying it is a good way to discover what "symbol" means for Emacs. Dunno what that is. How is what you want to do different from just binding `C-h S' to the new menu item? (Is this only about picking up a default value for `C-h S' from somewhere? If so, point is the place to pick it up, not the mouse pointer in the menu.) ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread

Good idea -- it'll make the very useful `C-h S' command more discoverable. So I've now added this in Emacs 28. -- (domestic pets only, the antidote for overdose, milk.) bloggy blog: http://lars.ingebrigtsen.no ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread
