Except when part of a code name, the manuals correctly use "key
binding", not "keybinding". There are a few typos, though:

(emacs) `Quotation Marks':

not affect these keybindings, they are not keybindings of

(elisp) `Loadintg Non-ASCII':

This can matter when making keybindings to

(elisp) `Active Keymaps':

 modal/transient keybindings (the function

(elisp) `'Search and Replace':

providing additional keybindings that are useful

As English is my second language, I tried looking for a reference for
this spelling but couldn't find one. Merriam Webster doesn't seem to
have an entry for "keybinding", and Wikipedia lacks sufficient authority
for my taste. Perhaps it would be useful if someone could provide one.
Or maybe this is very obvious to native English speakers.

In any case, we are in "good" company, as the VSCode documentation also
seems to use inconsistent spelling. But of course we should do better
than them in this case as well.

It should be "key binding". Or when used
as an adjective before a noun it should
be "key-binding".

If you don't want to fix this in the usual
way, consider doing the opposite: change
the many occurrences of "key binding" to
"keybinding" (not recommended).

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. My question is if there exists a
canonical reference that says that this is the case.

Maybe you were clear. Was I not clear?

DuckDuckGo is your friend, if you seek
a reference other than my say-so.

I even offered you an alternative:
change all occurrences to "keybinding".
(Or to "frobnobit". Or "speelhowzeldib".
Or "norlewt". Or...)
___

While you're at it. Do the same for
"filename": change it to "file name"
(or "file-name" when an adjective
preceding a noun).

There are 7 occurrences of "filename"
in the Emacs manual (apart from code
names). Versus hundreds and hundreds
of occurrences of "file name".
___

And so on.

Aha, your argument is that the Emacs source code itself is a good
reference? That's fair enough.

Thanks for the bug report. Now fixed on master (commit cf6dc1838a).
