wordwrap character

wordwrap character

  is there a method of getting rid of the wordwrap character? i often
cut-n-paste from console to console and the '\' is quite annoying to get
rid of in the pasted document (especially if it has other '\' characters)

On what OS is that?

On most systems, just marking the text and typing M-w inside Emacs will 
put the marked text (without the continuation character) into the 
clipboard/X selection.

   i know i could use the traditional cut-n-paste. but my desire was to
not go that route and use the os cut-n-paste via thse mouse highlighting.
method. i know ... shame on me.

gpm (a basic, but useful mouse utility) on Linux ttys does this.  It
simply copies the visual contents of the screen, for later pasting.
