Just to react to one of the comment made on this thread. I think too that this is a good idea if the compiled documents do not have the same file names, like ses-xx.info for xx language translation, and ses.info for the original language. This is because, at least for the translator it is practical to have both manual in the same dir, and therefore they need different names. Also when you make absolute node reference it is probably better if the name is different for different language, although I took care to keep the same node names to make easier language switching. The same applies to the direntry menu item.

Now, concerning the source filename, frankly speaking, I cannot understand why it would be a problem to have the same names given that they are in different directories. I think that having different source file names complexifies comparison of source file trees to see at a glance which manuals have translations, and which don't. Nevertheless I won't make a fuss, and I do not strongly object to this if I am alone of the opinion that it is a bad idea to have different source filenames.

So what will be in the menu in info/dire we distribute?

And if we are going to have separate directories for each language,
both under doc/ and under info/, why do we also have to name the files
FOO-fr.texi or FOO-fr.info?
