Mistook all files that are including `md` two characters in the path,
as a markdown files.

foo.py = opens in python-mode
cmd.py, cmds.py = opened within markdown-mode

Nope, it was my mistake...

I've added this extra code into my `.emacs` config:

```el
;; My Extra Code
;; Markdown Mode
(autoload 'markdown-mode "markdown-mode.el"
   "Major mode for editing Markdown files" t)
(setq auto-mode-alist
   (cons '("\.md" . markdown-mode) auto-mode-alist))
```

Yeah, you forgot to (1) double-escape the dot (one backslash for regex
syntax, another for string literal syntax), and (2) anchor to the end
of file name. So your regex matches any files that have any character
followed by ‘md’ anywhere in the name, rather than those ending with
the literal ‘.md’.

    (setq auto-mode-alist
          (cons '("\\.md\\'" . markdown-mode) auto-mode-alist))

Also that can be shortened to:

    (add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("\\.md\\'" . markdown-mode))
