Indeed. The way we got around this in Aquamacs was to create the frame
with (visibility . nil), process .emacs (etc.) and only make it
visible after frame-notice-user-settings, as in the patch below. That
way, the frame is already be present and may be manipulated directly
in .emacs, without any annoying visual effects.
