It's a complete non-issue. The question (here) is whether it is more helpful or more of a hindrance to use the same name for such different things. Using "cut" emphasizes the similarity, which helps users find this feature (discovery) - e.g. in the doc. Using "kill" or "froobarb" emphasizes the difference, which helps users not to suppose too much wrt "cutting" behavior. It's a choice. Your saying that it is a non-issue signifies only that you've made your choice.
