Actually I yanked the address of the remote server and then visited  
the area to the right of the TRAMP prompt (asking for the pass- 
phrase) with the mouse cursor and pasted the pass-phrase from the

It's not a bug. Tramp uses `read-passwd', which applies internally
`read-char-exclusive'.
