The GNU Project sees nothing objectionable in the name "master", and likewise for the name "main". The GNU Project supports basic human rights in computing, so it opposes slavery in computing. However, naming a branch "master" is not slavery. The only thing in computing that is partially like slavery is the injustice of nonfree software and online dis-services.
