[[[ To any NSA and FBI agents reading my email: please consider ]]]
[[[ whether defending the US Constitution against all enemies, ]]]
[[[ foreign or domestic, requires you to follow Snowden's example. ]]]

To understand the defaults, you need to keep in mind the history, both
that of implementing various features, and that of key bindings.

It is easy to add a feature, much harder to change the default.

It is easy to add a command, hard to find a short key binding for it.
