I'm sending mail about proced to emacs-devel because it sounds like a good feature to add to Emacs. To avoid reinventing the wheel, proced.el uses some code from dired.el. Copying code from dired is a good idea, especially if it results in greater coherence between proced and dired. Maximizing such coherence is really important for keeping Emacs coherent overall.
