If it is a problem (and other people seem to disagree with you on this), it can't be helped. I won't change the way I live my life just so I can use different methods to work on Emacs Working on Emacs is not all I do. Meanwhile, using IRC for discussions would be very inefficient for me, so I won't do that even when I do have a net connection.
