I have no idea how it works on other platforms, like Mac OS X or Win32. In hacker terminology, calling something a "win" is a form of praise. If you wish to praise Microsoft Windows, you're free to do so; but in the context of Emacs, we don't want to do that. So please don't use the term "win32" here.
