There is some bug in the data.c change I mailed out; it causes
buffer-local bindings to go to the wrong buffers. Since I don't have
time to debug it, and the problem it fixed wasn't drastic, I just
reverted it (it was never installed in CVS). The first problem I saw
was that the mode line failed to display stars in modified buffers.
If someone else would like to debug this, that could be a good
way to learn about that part of Emacs.
