    Yes (that's what the Unix build does), but I'm reluctant to do that
    now, since it would be a major change in the Windows build procedure.

I don't know the Windows build code, but I'd expect this to be a
fairly small change.  And since it only has to run on one system, once
it is working for one of you, there's not a big chance it will fail
elsewhere.

Anyway, keeping things similar from system to system tends to be cleaner.
