From the `split-window' doc-string:
"The upper or leftmost window is the original one and remains selected."
From the Elisp manual on `split-window':
"This function splits WINDOW into two windows. The original window
WINDOW remains the selected window, but occupies only part of its ..."
These descriptions are slightly inaccurate - if the "original" window is
not the selected one, the selected window usually remains selected.
