I have this in my .emacs file:
(setq ring-bell-function #'(lambda))
But the bell is active anyway.
I think you meant~ to write
(setq ring-bell-function (lambda ()))
(ding)
or maybe you prefer (this is what I have in my .emacs)
(setq ring-bell-function nil)
(setq visible-bell t)
(ding)
~: `lambda' is self-quoting, which is why `(lambda)' "works",
but it requires an arglist if you want to build a function;
if the function accepts no arguments, the arglist is `nil'.
C-h f lambda RET.
