I find the documentation string of `overlay-recenter' somewhat unclear:
Recenter the overlays of the current buffer around position POS.
In particular:
Is this function only used for efficiency purposes or can it actually
move or otherwise change some overlays?

At the Lisp level it is just an optimization for lookups for
positions near POS. I will update the doc string.
