The functions file-attributes and directory-files-and-attributes both report
the link count as 1 for a file that has a link count of 2. Hence ls-lisp
displays the wrong link count, whereas Cygwin ls displays the correct link
count. The current release of Emacs (installed as a binary package and not
built by me) on Windows XP Home shows exactly the same behaviour. In both
cases the files in question were on an NTFS partition.
I believe that at one time the link count was shown correctly, but I don't
know when it changed. I suspect it's a generic problem on the Windows NT
platform line.
