▧ 2002년 7월 첫번째 게이지몰 소식

□ 선단각
일반적으로 선단각은 118˚이며,피삭재의 재질이나 공구재질에 따라 작게하거나 크게 한다. 선단각을 작게하면 작용하는 절삭 토크가 커지고, 선단각을 크게하면 절삭 토크는 작아지고 추력(thrust)은 크게 할 수 있다. 따라서 경도가 낮은 경금속, 구리나 목재, 수지 등은 선단각이 작은것을 쓰고 칠드주철이나 합금강은 선단각을 크게 쓴다(표 참조)

□ 경사각(Rake angle), 나선각(Helix angle)
드릴의 경사각은 절삭날의 각위치에서 변하는 드릴 홈의 비틀림각(Helix angle)이 경사각이 된다. Helix angle은 드릴 외주부의경사각과 동일한 것으로 이 각도가 크게 되면 절삭성은 좋게되고, 저항력은 감소 하지만 Chip 배출은 나빠지고 드릴의 강성은 저하되어 떨림 발생의 원인이 된다. 따라서 절삭저항이 적고 절삭성에 중점을 두는 알미늄 가공이나, 절삭온도에 의해 가공경화를 동반하는 스텐레스강이나내열강 등에는 Helix angle을 크게 하는 것이 좋다.

반면에 Chip의 배출에 중점을 두는 베크라이트 등의 가공에는 Helix Angle을 적게 하는 것이 좋다. 연한 피삭재의 경우 Helix Angle을 크게 하면 절삭 Chip의 변형폭이 적어지게 되어 상대적으로 열발생이 적어 드릴의 수명이 연장된다. 강한 피삭재의 경우 Helix Angle이 클 경우에는 진동과 Chipping이발생하게 되어 드릴의 수명이 저하되므로 Helix Angle을 20°∼ 30°전후에서 조절하면 최대 수명을얻을 수 있다.

Helix angle 은 Standard Helix (21∼37°, 강 및 주철의 가공에 적용)와 SlowHelix (15∼17°, 부스러지기 쉬운 피삭재, 황동, 마그네슘 합금 등)와 Quick Helix (30∼40°,연질의 칩이 길게 나오며 날부에 접착하기 쉬운 재질, 알미늄, 알미늄 합금)로 구분되어 진다.

□ 여유각
드릴의 이송운동에 지장을 주지 않게끔 여유각이주어지며, 드릴의 재연삭은 이 여유면에서 행하여진다. 일반적으로 드릴중심의 여유각은 외주부의 여유각보다 크게 되고 드릴의 기능상 합리적이다. 여유각이 너무 적으면 여유면이 닿게되어 열 발생이 많아지게 되며 Drilling이 잘 되지 않게 되어 드릴의수명이 저하되며 반대로 여유각이 너무 많으면 인선강도의 부족으로 Chipping이 발생 우려가 높고 구멍뚫기초기의 자리잡기 과정에서 진동이 발생하여 삼각형이나 오각형의 요철이 생기든지, 상하로 크게 진동을 일으켜 절삭효과가없어지게 된다.
