What terminal emulator are you using? What is the value of the TERM environment variable in that terminal emulator immediately after you start it? Are you using any kind of terminal multiplexer (screen, tmux, something else)? If so, what is the value of the TERM environment variable once you=E2=80=99ve started that? You mention using ssh. What is the value of $TERM after you connect? If using a terminal multiplexer, are you starting ssh from a terminal multiplexer tab, or starting a terminal multiplexer remotely?
