I have the following function on M-J, in addition to standard
delete-indentation on M-^:

(defun yk-join-lines ()
  "Join the current line with the next one."
  (interactive)
  (delete-indentation 1))

(Incidentally, they make up a good pair as J is just below 6 on Colemak.)
