Whoops.  My bad.  It's some `esh` thing (eshell?):

 Test esh-var-test/alias/symbol-pair condition:
    (ert-test-failed
     ((should

      (mismatched-output

Fancy quote stuff, apparently. Maybe already fixed, didn't check with the
very latest.
