wdired allows you to edit dired buffers. you can think of it like
editing a file.
i wonder if a mechanism could be put into place to deal gracefuly with
wdired, wgrep, and other stuff where you want to go and take a look at
the changes.
some useful things for these buffers and also for file-visiting
buffers might include diff, visiting, and recursive edit.
