Thanks for your patience guys.
You have overestimated my elisp-knowledge.
Telling me I need to call in ox-latex without telling me how was asking too
much
of me. I tried to look it up myself and failed.
Now, finally, this works as adverticed and Suvayu's explanation of how the
exporter
loads backends clears some fog.
I have even got Memoir to work.
