It's a very good package, indeed.  As for why it doesn't ship with
Emacs, I think it's the usual story: we don't have the copyright
assignments for it that the Emacs maintainers insist on.

If we could collect the copyright papers for it and get in on GNU ELPA,
that would be an excellent step forward.
