I still believe this is what's happening for me on Linux 3.x and Darwin 10.= 7.x when I kill a buffer and the claimed memory is not given back to the kernel= . The way I use Emacs now is to load and terminate it more often than I'd lik= e to. I don't tend to keep it open for a whole work day and definitely not use --daemon. Any ready-made instrumentation to reveal what's going on for find the root = cause or explanation of what's going?
